Allow me to capture the essence of you and your family with an exciting and informal photo shoot in my Birmingham studio. Together we’ll create images you’ll love.

A studio portrait session usually takes two hours: that’s one hour of photography plus one hour of viewing and selecting your pictures. (We do that immediately afterwards so there’s no need to wait around or book a second appointment.) Gorgeous hand-prints start at £35.

As a professional photographer who loves being around people, I’m passionate about producing beautiful images that show the real you, ensuring you have fun in the process. I’m relaxed and personable, providing gentle direction to get the best out of everyone. Years of experience mean I know how to coax a winning picture out of even very young or very reluctant subjects. In fact I really enjoy working with children, and make it my mission to ensure the session is fun for them (allowing parents to relax too).

My Birmingham home studio is easy to find, with plenty of free street parking on Warwards Lane in Selly Oak.

Studio photo session FAQs

What happens at the photo session?
Your photo session can be tailored to your specific requirements, or you can go with the flow and let me direct you on the day. I like to make things fun and interactive so be prepared to get up, sit down, lie on the floor, jump (if appropriate) and interact with one another while I capture the sparkle between you. If you want more relaxed images, that is of course fine – I want to photograph you feeling comfortable and happy.

What should I wear?
Try to wear something bright and colourful as this will help to create lively, vibrant images. Also bring a change of clothes or two. Clothes that work well on camera include jeans, stripy T-shirts, white or pattered dresses for little girls, big cosy jumpers, hats, and anything else you and your family love to wear. I find it works well if everyone brings a blue top. Try not to wear anything with a logo on it, as this will date your pictures quickly.

Should we bring props?
We have a few items in the studio but yes please: feel free to bring props that you particularly associate with you and/or your children. A hockey stick, a guitar – anything that you’d be seen with day to day. It’s nice to bring a hooded towel for babies and small children, and a couple of toys.

I look forward very much to meeting you at the Birmingham studio of Nicola Gotts Photography.
